HaPPy HaLLoWeeN!

Well, its been a week long celebration starting with the ward Halloween party on Wednesday. Here is Collin in his tooth costume that I made and Gavin as a spider. Collin wasn't too interested in having the tooth on, but then it seemed he quite liked it. And it was good padding for all the times he fell on his face.

This month Collin learned what a pumkin was and he's been taken by them ever since. The grocery store I go to, has them all out in front and he's always dying to hop out of the cart and go touch them.

Trav was in charge of the haunted house, and was gone doing that most of the night so we didn't dress up. I did wear some earrings that light up like flashlights that were fairly novel. And I have to give props to Trav and the other guys doing the haunted house, because grown adults were leaving scared. It was pretty funny.

Thursday morning we went to the ward's playgroup that was at Galleria Mall for their "Galleria of Treats". Basically it was just walking through the mall going trick or treating at booths. Collin didn't get it at all. Once he got one piece of candy and had it in his mouth, he'd get the next piece and want to switch it out. So basically I just gave him a sucker and took over all of the {trick or treating}. Here are most of the kiddos from our ward that made it.

Here he is with one of the 4 suckers he consumed. All the vendors got a kick out of his costume and kept making jokes about him getting a cavity. You can't tell as well as I thought you could, but in the one of him in his carseat, he's just coated in sticky goo. And he was obviously very happy about it.

Saturday night we had our traditional Halloween party and I think it was a success! The costumes keep getting better and better each year. I was impressed. Trav has had another heinous week of tests so he couldn't help much, but it was still fun to get ready for it. And of course, making the caramel and chocolate dipped apples for the prizes with Tiff and Rach was a blast. It turned into a fun {girls night} that was just a bit tainted when Tiff brought up the fact that she won't be around next year.... don't remind us Tiff!! :(

If you couldn't tell.... (and most people couldn't) .. I was the tooth fairy (note tooth on tiara) and Trav was the little boy who lost his tooth. He's supposed to have bed head and be missing a tooth, but I'm afraid he might have come off more {gomerish} than little boyish. That's my fault. But I still think he's cute! :)

We were thrilled to have Arianna and Craig stop by (aka Rach and Doug) and they most deservingly won the {Funniest} costume award.

I'm so mad I didn't get a better picture of Denyse and Ryan!!!! They were a Chilean miner and his mistress. Denyse looked so different, you really couldn't even recognize her. It took us all a minute to figure out it was her! You can kind of see the tube on the floor that Ryan came out of and they did a little {performance} to present their costumes that was hilarious. Denyse was only speaking in Spanish before Ryan came down in the tube and then he broke out and they had their "reunion". They won the {Best Overall} award.

Wayne and Rachel as Popeye and Olive Oil... I believe won {Most Realistic}.

Laney and Taylor Hawes were a "French Kiss". And French kiss they did! Others got more explicit pictures... I present you with the PG rated one. :) They appropriately won {Best Couple}.

Carolyn and Levi Taylor were a Gold Digger and a Sugar Daddy. They won {Most Expensive}costume... haha :)

Crescent and Dave Marchant were Rapenzel and Prince Charming. Cute cute!

Tiffany and Creed Cardon were a mad scientist and his experiment. Love the "pooch" on Creed and the fetus gone wild on Tiff. They appropriately won {Scariest} costume.

Lawrence and Andrea Garrett playing pirates!

Bron and Megan Shaheen as Peter Pan and Wendy (their little girl was Tinkerbell).

Adrian and Natalie Dayton won {Most Creative} costume as Ammon and one of King Lamoni's sheep! How do they come up with these things?! Might have been my favorite.

Ryan and Rachel came as Chinese people. It might be hard to tell, but Ryan was toeing the line of cross dressing with his ensemble. Brave man! :) It was really funny and got them the {Coolest} award.

I think that Chanda and Scott House should have won an award as Tiger Woods and Elin. So creative!
I don't know how I missed getting a picture of Anthony and Kristie dressed as swimmers but I did get a pic of Kristie doing the donut eating contest later. They won {Sexiest} costume. I also missed Jake and Whitney Wilding who came as cowboys and got the {Last Minute} prize.

I introduced Doug and Rachel last and they immediately got up and started yelling and cheering and then entertained us with a group of cheers. I was laughing so hard, my cheeks hurt. It was too funny for words. They did awesome! This is a "must-watch" video!
A sampling of the treats.... I made the 7 layer bean dip with the {bone} chips made out of bone shaped, toasted tortillas. A bit more time consuming than I thought it would be, but it's so nice when it turns out the way you wanted it to look and it doesn't taste bad either... thank you butter!

After I handed out the awards (and yes, I realize we had a TON of them... we decided to be the Socialist Halloween party this year and give as many prizes as possible :) ... the Spartan Cheerleaders decided it was time for {the perfect cheer}. Again... hysterical. They were the highlight of the night and the hit of the party. Great job you guys!!!

We also had our donut eating contest... winner of the guys was Lawrence!

Maybe this picture was funnier at the moment, but right when the girls dove in for their donuts, the bar fell and hit Denyse in the face! Sad, right?! But when I looked down at my camera and saw the picture had gotten the exact moment after, I just died laughing. Andrea won for the ladies!

The party died down around 10:30pm but luckily we had some late nighters stick around for kareoke! Here is Doug and Lawrence releasing their inner "boy band". They favored us with some Backstreet Boys and Michael Jackson. I love performers! Thanks to everyone who came... a party isn't good without fun guests and we had a ball!

As for actual Halloween.... that night we decided to get in the Halloween spirit by carving up our slightly molding pumpkin and watching Hocus Pocus. I'm sure the Savior approved. Gavin stopped by to {trick or treat} and then we returned the favor at his house, the Cardons, and our next door neighbors. It was a big sacrifice for a guy who has been studying non-stop for what feels like weeks..... and I guess it has been weeks. October has not been a fun {dental school} month. He is seriously lacking on sleep and I'm seriously lacking on my Trav time! Hooray for the Pharmacy test being done today!

Your Halloween Party ROCKED! It was so much fun. I am already excited for next years party. :) I'm glad Doug & I could bring some entertainment to the party. Just be glad that we don't mind making complete fools of ourselves. :)

WOW! What a party! Doug and Rachel were hilarious. How long did they practice to get it so like SNL. I LOVED your molding jack-o-lantern. It was very creative. Loved the whole tooth theme. Collin looked so cute as a tooth. Trav looked really cute as a little boy (how I will always think of him) and you were a great tooth fairy. Such fun.

Collins tooth vest was creative, loved your fairy outfit oh and skirt extender:) and travis barely resembled a creeper:) It's too bad Duff isn't here yet because he could have been a pillow or a quarter or a piece of macaroni!

Good times. You look like you put a lot of work into that party. I recognized the frankenstein, did we make those for YW one time? I'm thinkin' we did and it's a cute decoration and am just hoping it's in AZ with our stuff;)
Cute idea of making collin's costume. Maybe one day I'll get brave and make one of my kids'.
