October

We said goodbye to Aunt Aubrey the night before we left to Oceanside. She'll be teaching English in South Korea for a year. She was supposed to leave in the spring, but Covid happened so she's excited to finally be leaving! We'll miss her for sure but are so happy she's off on an adventure, challenging herself.
Did you ever do yoga in Kindergarten? Or make pumpkin, chocolate chip cookies? I think there are major perks to Prenda! I really love these kids!

I seem to be feeding the neighborhood a lot these days. Collin is always begging for friends to stay for lunch. Thank goodness for Costco.
Weston made a game at school that we played for FHE. I like how they get to use their imagination and creativity at school.

New construction going on around our neighborhood! Feels like Gilbert on my morning runs.

I was watching Madeline for Marcie when she got into the Vasoline. I had shut all the doors and blocked the stairs so she could play in the toy room. I was trying to help Olive with her piano practicing, but Tanner opened my bedroom door and she went into my bathroom. Rookie mistake. Should have had my eyes glued on the one year old the entire time. I tried wiping it out with paper towels then literally washed it 4 times, got her out of the tub, dressed and was brushing it when I could tell it was still greasy. So back in the tub, several more shampooings, out and dressed and still GREASY. Ahhhh!! This time I consulted google. It said to put cornstarch in the hair to soak up the grease. So we did that and I had the happiest ghost baby in the tub, haha! It was such a mess! But it still didn't completely do the trick. I was at a loss and felt so bad handing Marcie back a much oilier child than she had dropped off.

Since the lock down I have stared at the playhouse and wanted to repaint it. It was looking pretty shabby. Wish I had gotten a "before" picture. I taped it all off and let the kids help (really proud of myself for giving up complete control) I did the trim and they painted the floor. Looks much spiffier!
I just love spying Jenni's dad at my Thursday, LD 12 meetings. I will often sneak a picture and text her.
Marcie organized a Favorite Things party at my mom's house for all the Udall girl cousins! We each brought our own take out for dinner and Marcie, Shelley and I brought desserts. I made these Russian Cream fruit cups. Basically panna cotta. They were a huge hit! I love when that happens! We had such a fun time sharing our favorite things then playing a game to see who goes home with what.

Date nights are usually dinner and maybe grocery shopping or running an errand. I've wanted to try 212 Ice Cream Studio for a while. It sure was pretty! And tasty enough but I don't think we'll ever be back. You definitely pay for presentation over quality or quantity.

Such a goof ball.
Marcie's Halloween party didn't really pan out this year. Conflicts kept coming up. It was finally delegated to the normal Sunday night dinner at my parent's house. The costume Trav and I were planning on wasn't exactly Sunday appropriate so just the kids dressed up. I love themed food! I made the sugar cookie pizza for dessert. So funny that David and Jefferson both dressed up as Tiger King.

FHE at Vertuccio Farms. We love this place! And it's so convenient that it's around the corner!

This was a water pumping activity where you send little ducks back and forth down the pipes. No joke, while Collin was pumping the water he looked up and in all seriousness asked, "Is this how you guys got your water growing up?" Oh come on!! How old do you think we are?! When we said no, he seemed surprised and asked, "What about Grandma and Grandpa?" Nope! Not them either! Or great grandma and grandpa! Sheesh.

Olive's dance recital from the end of last year finally got to happen! No art centers would let the studio rent space so they built their own stage and had it in the parking lot. I was so happy they made it work! Olive is on the performance team for her age group and was front and center for her dance! She knew it the best and the other girls kept looking at her for the moves. I was really proud of her! She danced to Jailhouse Rock.
They didn't offer studio pictures so I snapped a few of my own.

Evans Spooky Halloween dinner 2020!
We watched Halloween themed Funniest Home Videos and had green and black Oreo shakes! The pumpkin shakes from last year were not a hit.

I did one fun hairstyle this month and this was it! Took a decade to finish. She wore it to the class field trip to the pumpkin farm and got lots of compliments!
We took both classes to Vertuccio Farms for a field trip and stayed for over 5 hours! They just played and played AND PLAYED. And us moms had fun visiting too!

I should have just a food blog. I realize I take a lot of pictures of food. But isn't this salad so pretty?!!
With no pomp or circumstance, Tanner learned to ride a bike! I had just finished up teaching one Friday and Travis came home from shooting a commercial and took off his training wheels and with just a couple assisted runs down the street he was cruising like he'd done it his whole life! I think the balance bike did wonders to prepare him. He loves it so much. Just look at that smile! Now, all day long he begs me to take him on a ride around the neighborhood. I usually hold him off til the afternoon, but we go out every day!

We got to have Cohen over one Friday night while his parents were at Abby's brother's wedding. He is the easiest, sweetest kid. And he eats more than Tanner and Olive combined, haha!

HALLOWEEN!!
Since I did a separate post with costumes, I'll just say everyone was so happy that trick or treating was allowed to happen! The boys took off with their friends and I took Olive and Tanner around with Allison and Livy Law. It wasn't as busy as usual but there were still lots of houses handing out candy. Most people just had tables out front with candy prebagged or separated. Lots of houses did things like send the candy down a chute from the balcony or lower it from the balcony with a bucket. The older boys talked a big game about how they'd do every house in the neighborhood but they were done before the younger kids! Then they reveled in their candy and watched TV. The Monahans did all political costumes. Jonas got most controversial by being Hunter Biden as an inmate! Ha!
