Paige answered Collin to prom with the cutest poster of pictures of them together.
I took pictures of their group with one other mom in the Queen Creek wash. It wasn't ideal but it's hard to find good places in the hot desert. I absolutely LOVE this one of Paige! She's so beautiful. I think they went to Carrabas for dinner then the dance was at an event venue on Baseline and Greenfield. Grant's parents hosted an afterparty.
Olive and I went to this Christian farmers market then to Karen Tobler's daughter's baby shower.
Another dance competition!
We hosted the whole ward for an ice cream night! We went through two cases of concentrate and I had to mix up the powdered kind too! I'm glad so many came. We visited for over 2 hours and I was pooped. Sadly, Tanner was playing football in the greenbelt at the beginning and jumped up and came down in a pothole. He was wearing his slides and his ankle turned and popped. He started wailing so Travis went over and scooped him up and he was adamant he couldn't walk on it. He hopped into the house and got the crutches Weston bought for fun at Goodwill and used them all night. His siblings called him a fakey faker, but when I took him to get it x-rayed the next day, turns out it WAS broken! Luckily it wasn't a weight bearing bone, just a stabilizing bone but it was super swollen and he couldn't put weight on it for a week. We borrowed a scooter from the Moselys until he could wear his boot. Baseball season had just started though so he missed all of it.
Forgive me for this but how could I come downstairs to see this and not imagine this is how Trav would look as a gynecologist. Cleaning the ice cream machine is a chore!
Shelley and I bought this dress together in Vegas and I still have it! Dug it out of the ol' cedar chest and wore it to church. Denim is back in.
When Collin got in trouble, he was grounded and lost all his privileges. Travis had the idea that instead of just making him wait a month, we would give him books to read and with each book read, he could earn a privilege back. He also had to write a book report on it. First he could get his phone back, then he could get TV back, then he could have Paige over to our house, then he could leave the house again. I tell you what, his book reports were amazing. This was the best "punishment" we've ever used. He HATES reading so this was the only way to have him learn something. We couldn't even pay him to read. By the last book, he said reading wasn't so bad. I cried reading his testimony in the report he wrote for A Case for the Book of Mormon. In Sunday School we were asked to give an example of when a trial turned into something sweet. I shared this experience. Something I was devastated by, resulted in Collin opening up to some really life changing books.
Pokemon is BACK. I went to return something at WalMart and GROWN MEN were waiting in a line for the latest shipment. My gosh.
Maybe I was hormonal, but when I read this meme, I actually bawled. Not cried. No sweet tears rolling down my cheeks. Like ugly sobs. I hope with all my heart my kids can love each other like this.
Preparing to leave the country is no joke. We had Travis's counselor over days before having us sign legal documents directing our estate if something happens to us. I spent countless hours typing up schedules, arranging carpools, child care and meals.
I also may have bought a *few* things for the trip. Just the essentials of course.
The Evans did a delayed Easter dinner after Wayne and Paula got back into town. I think Reddin was the egg roll winner this year.
I mixed up cotton candy ice cream powder for our ward ice cream night and FELL IN LOVE. Oh my gosh it's soooo good. I had a bowl of left over every night until we left on our trip. With sprinkles. My weakness!!
