Olive has been in dance since she was 3. At the end of this year she decided she needed a break. She wants to try other things like volleyball or more tumbling or possibly the cheer team at school. She's also interested in getting a private violin teacher to supplement orchestra. It was a hard decision to make and she cried lots of tears. But she will still do hip hop company and knows that if she misses dance company, she can go back next year. She's had an amazing director in Leah Tamba and loves her. She's also loved her friends at Inspire but has had a rough year with her previous best friend who has treated her pretty awful this year. She is used to doing 17-20 hours of dance every week and has felt like it rules her life. She realized her two favorite days of the week were Wednesday and Friday because she didn't have dance and her least favorite were Monday and Tuesday because she had ballet. She HATES ballet. While some girls are looking for more opportunities to dance, she wanted less. I think that says a lot. It's probably wise to stop spending thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours on a hobby you're not obsessed with. Even still, my heart was sad that my tiny dancer wants to be done. She is a beautiful dancer and very talented. I might secretly be hoping she misses it enough to go back next year.
