George Strait

DREAMS coming true on this trip!!
Travis convinced me that it was not wise to put off seeing George Strait in concert another year. At his age, you just never know, haha. He was in Vegas in February but that was the weekend we were running our 1/2 marathon. So we got tickets to see him in Kansas City on July 30! Random, I know. But we were on top of it and got tickets as soon as they were available and got floor seats!!! Happiest birthday to me! I have loved George Strait as long as I can remember. He may be older than my father, but the crush is real. ;)

We flew in the morning of the concert, rented a car and got some lunch at what is called City Market. After looking at reviews, we settled on Pigwich and lemme tell you, it lived up to the hype! Sooo yummy!

We got a fancy hotel thanks to Bon Voyage points and were surrounded by other George fans!

For the price we paid we figured we'd better get our money's worth and headed to the stadium not long after they opened the doors. First item of business... wait in the ridiculously long line to buy a shirt! Then we made our way down to our seats. The longer we walked, the more my jaw dropped. We were so close!!!! Like, watch the singer instead of the big screen, close! We passed countless aisles of people and I was feeling more and more like I had stepped into someone else's fancy pants life. Little Big Town opened and they were awesome! One of the main singers reminded me of Sarah Jessica Parker in Hocus Pocus haha. On the Pontoon!! Then Chris Stapleton took the stage. Mmm not a fan. Didn't know who he was before this, although I'd heard his name. Just a hairy guy with an overly serious voice. I took this opportunity to go to the bathroom and get some food.

About 4 hours after getting there, the man, the myth, the legend, took the stage. PINCH ME!!!!!!!! Honest to goodness I could have died of happiness right then and there. Ahhhhhhhh!!! George freakin' STRAIT! They say money don't buy happiness but money bought me a ticket here so that's a darn lie! For the next couple of hours I was floating. A smile never left my face. I danced and sang along and begged time to never end! He has so many amazing hits. Sadly, he didn't play my very favorite, My Kind of Woman, but I don't think it's as loved by most people. He did play Run, though!! My 2nd fav. And Check Yes or No and Amarillo by Morning and a dozen others that I swooned and crooned over. Travis is the best husband ever! When we were dating he didn't even like country music. But he gave it a chance for me and now I think he genuinely enjoys a lot of it. He always puts 90's country station on Amazon Music for our date nights and when I was screaming hysterically for George, he did not judge. He even joined in singing with me for lots of songs! How did I get such a stud?
He did one encore and then it was over. I stood with my hands clasped, willing him to come back. But no. The best night ever was over and I would have done anything to push rewind. We flew home the next day after some disappointing BBQ (why do I think 'famous' bbq is going to change our lives? It never does.)
It was a whirlwind trip but one I'll never forget. And I owe it all to my amazing Travis.
