David and Abbey's Wedding Dinner

My parents hosted the groom's dinner at their house, the night before the wedding. They hired a caterer and we feasted on all sorts of delicious Mexican food!
I was in charge of centerpieces. I felt bad dumping out 15 large cans of El Pato, but whattayagonnado? Don't get me started on the fiasco of trying to save the soda and bringing it in all sorts of pitchers and tupperware containers to Sunday dinner that weekend. The car and our laps were a sticky mess and the carbonation was gone. Soda flavored juice anyone?
Just glad they turned out pretty bueno.

My flash was driving me bonkers all night!! I really wish I knew my camera better. So here are my sub-par pictures of the night...

Look at Abbey donning plastic gloves and helping with the prep of her own dinner!

 The neighborhood boys!
Daniel Merkley, Rosson Shumway, David and Logan Groscost.
 And their wonderful mothers!
My favorite and yours... standing up and introducing everyone!

After we ate, Marcie organized some fun games. In this one, she read a question like, who takes longer to get ready, and they had to lift the shoe of the person they thought matched. (They had one of each shoe)

 The classic cookie face game!
And the ping pong ball shake game!

Finally, they left the mic open to anyone that wanted to get up and say something. My dad started and made us all cry with a sweet story about one of the first times he was around Abby and he knew he loved her.
Mostly our family told funny stories about David and Abbey's family told sweet ones about her, haha. Shelley's was by far the best though!! She was trying to share a sort of embarrassing, but actually endearing story about the day David found a hurt cat at a construction job site. (Shelley knew the story because her husband was there.) David does not come across as "the type", but he felt bad for the injured cat and his pity outweighed his masculinity apparently. So he scooped it up and tried to feed it, then eventually took it to the vet. Awww. (I'm sure David was mortified and squirming.) But as Shelley was trying to think of a good way to end her story she said, "So I know David will make a great husband and father someday... because... he can take care of cats." BAHAHAHAHAHA! I kid you not, we all busted up in the most ridiculous laughter. Tears were streaming down my cheeks. I was doubled over and threatening to fall on the ground in fits of laughter. She obviously wasn't trying to make a joke, but it came out so funny and was by far the hit story of the night.
David thought so too.
The last word went to David Jesse's namesake, Grandpa Jess, who got up and said a few words.
We ended the night by watching their wedding video, which is always my favorite! Abbey is the most photogenic person I know and I loved every second of their love story. It was a groom's dinner to remember!
