I always say I'm going to go write down whatever funny thing the kids just said, but I fail most of the time. Here are a few I did remember to jot down.
Out of nowhere, Weston proudly announced, "Mom, I share my lips with my teeth!"
???
While Little Mermaid was on I was loudly singing along with Ariel in Part of Your World. Weston was on the couch and he was NOT appreciating my vocal prowess. With eyebrows knit together and a voice of indignation he pointed at me and practically spit out, "YOU can't sing that!!! You NOT in that show!!!"
My, my, Weston! A Mom is just not free to do as she pleases!
In a conversation with Travis, Collin wondered out loud, "I wonder what I'm going to name my kids when I grow up and have a wife. I wonder how many I'll have." Weston suggested, "3?" Collin replied, "No. More." So Weston said, "Um, maybe 4?" Collin finally settled on 16.
I'll make sure to warn his future wife.
A couple of weeks ago, I had the kids in the car with me as I drove to a very run down trailer park to deliver some cookies for a lady I visit teach. And when I say "run down", I mean, it's the saddest trailer park I've EVER seen. Truly awful. As I pulled in and we bumped along the broken up asphalt, Collin's eyes were big as he gushed in a depressed voice, "Mom. What IS this sad city??!" I decided it was a good opportunity to teach him about how lucky and blessed we are. I told him not everyone has a nice, big house to live in. I told him we were fortunate to have a Daddy that works hard and is able to earn enough money for us to live the way we do. I also explained to him about visiting teaching and why we were there. After I dropped off the cookies and we were pulling away, I could tell his mind was brainstorming. Finally he helpfully suggested, "Mom. Why don't they have a sign out here that says, 'We need some money. Can you give us money?'" He said it with so much simple hope. Like, why didn't they think of that? Then everything would be OK.
Bless his heart.
The other day, something was in Collin's eye. Rubbing fiercely at it, he asked me, "Are there any eye dentists around here?!"
Apparently, last week, Collin sternly admonished Travis, saying, "Dad, I think it's YOUR turn to make dinner! Cuz Mom makes it ALL THE TIME!"
Sometimes, what they say is so sweet. Collin's prayers have gotten fairly eloquent. Recently he said, "Thank you Heavenly Father for making a beautiful plan for making our earth and for Jesus that he could die for us."
On Valentine's Day, Collin came home with quite a lot of loot from his class. Josie was here and she'd pick up a Valentine and try to decipher the name on it, then ask Collin a question about that person. They had been doing that for a while, when she picked up Zoey's valentine. When asked about Zoey, Collin paused, then looked stumped and declared, "Zoey. Well, Zoey's complicated." Haha! He's already getting the idea about girls it seems.
I was reading to the boys the Little Critter book, Just Me and my Brother.
After this particular page, Collin had one eyebrow up and and a skeptical face as he said quickly, "Wow. Sounds like they don't have a mother."
In a prayer, Collin said, "And thank you that Dad buys money at his work (Cuz that's what Collin thinks Travis's job is all about... buying money).... so that he can... so that Mom can buy things.
Haha. Yup, it only takes a 4 year old to figure out that's how it works around here! :)
Collin came home with this paper from primary a couple weeks ago.
I don't think he knew what a nickname was, so he said his was "Nick."
The last one made us laugh. He meant "soft tacos", but I guess he couldn't remember the correct word or else his teacher just misunderstood him. Yeah, he's not a fan of soft tacos. The whole, holding them while stuff falls out is stressfulllll!

Ha Weston is totally the son of Travis. His favorite thing to say when you'd sing along to a song was "who's singing this?" "so and so" "lets keep it that way."
