Apparently, some rich guy named Bollocks puts on a fireworks show on the 4th that the city doesn't want to compete with, so they take a back seat and do theirs on the 3rd! They are shot off at the college, right next to our house, so when Travis was driving home from work at 5pm, there were already people camped out. We ended up going to a little birthday celebration for Martin at the Marriott, and by the time we got home and bathed the boys it was nearly 9:30pm and time for fireworks. But since we're such awesome parents, we just put them to bed. :/ I knew they'd be up late the next night and didn't really want to attempt getting them on the roof with us. That was scary enough just for me! The fireworks were fun to watch, but they were over in 10 min. Seriously. I can't believe people waited 5 hours for those!!
On the actual 4th, Collin requested pop up pancakes for breakfast. After making our plates, I realized it had turned into a patriotic coincidence! :) I spent a few hours packing, then we took the boys to the Bloomfield Aquatics Center. I thought it would be packed and even called first to see if there were anywhere near capacity. She stifled a chuckle. It was basically empty. We had the pool to ourselves!
Well, we did share it with Snooki. Really, no picture could do this {bump it} justice. And I don't think there was even a bump it in there. That was all her ratting glory right there. I literally couldn't look away.
That evening we headed to the Pennington's and the boys had a blast shooting off fireworks. Weston
I LOVE this picture of Collin! He was super terrified that the sparkler would burn his hand.
There was one type of firework that was popped really loud and shot off sparks. Weston's face, every time, was that of complete awe.
Then, we had to cut that get together short to make it to the Hathenbruck's house for a neighborhood party. Faith is one of the boys babysitter's and she just loves them. They love her right back. It was a late, late night for these boys, but we enjoyed every minute! I'm really going to miss the Hathenbrucks and our other neighbors. We've been pretty spoiled with so many awesome people around us. Happy Independence Day!
