Groundhog Day art work!
Tap Company required us to attend this performance at the Chandler Center for the Arts. These women are definitely incredibly talented. And since I loved doing clogging, I'm sure tapping is really fun. I just don't love to watch it much. How bout some hip hop?! We got out of there as soon as it was over so I could get in bed for my 3 hours of sleep before the marathon in the morning!
I couldn’t sleep the night before the race as cold, hard fear sat in my stomach. I truly didn’t know what was going to happen or if I’d even be able to finish. I was terrified. We woke up at 3:20am and joined the other crazy people onto buses up to Usury Mountain. It was beautiful and strangely peaceful. Not long after we started running, I got an encouraging text from @mrsjenniwillis that made tears spring to my eyes. Then another text from a friend in our ward came in to join the many others from the night before. People are amazing. Major shout out to Marcie who brought Tanner and all her kids to cheer for us! My parents, Abbey, Travis’s sisters and brother in law, my friend Camilla and her whole family, including her parents, came to cheer for us! I started crying as I rounded the corner to see my family on mile 21! Every person who came to support the runners has to know how much it meant! The drink/snack stations helped too, haha! The biggest shock was that I felt good through the whole race and never had to stop and walk! Despite two huge, very painful blisters and losing a toe nail, I had FUN! And am so glad we did it. I swore it would be my first and LAST marathon, but I dunno… I’m kinda maybe stort of just a little bit tempted to do one more. Anyone want to come with me?!!
P.S. Olive FaceTimed me around mile 6 asking how to make oatmeal in the microwave. Everyone around me was laughing as I shouted, “put the bowl in the microwave… push the TIME button…turn the knob” Sheesh, I cant even run a marathon without being a mom! 🤪
See the tan line on my arm? Theres a triangle from bending my arms while running.
A celebratory dinner was in order. With a long wait time, Travis and I did our best hobble around outside with the kids while we waited. Our legs were NOT cooperating.
Weston turns TWELVE!!!!!
Just looking at his sweet smile makes me happy! Everyone needs a Weston in their life. His easy going nature and genuine kindness has him surrounded by friends all the time. He loves silly socks. His favorite pair has pictures of Shitzu dogs on them. A close second are his donut socks. He is all about dressing comfortably. He makes himself a ham and cheese sandwich for lunch almost every day. He loves his Jetson bike because he doesn't have to pedal....Weston likes the easy street. No extra effort please ;) I have been told multiple times that he is a wonderful, respectful student at school and at church. His Sunday school teacher says Weston is his favorite. He listens and answers all the questions. He is obsessed with macarons. Has become pretty picky with all other food though. Particularly despising lettuce wraps. Loves playing Fortnite and video games. Still up for snuggling. Doesn't like reading. Best friend is Mason Payne. Spends way too much time watching YouTube. Is the only one who lets Winnie lick his face, cuz germs are not on Weston's radar. A messy room does not bother him. I have been known to dump his clean clothes on his bed so he'll fold them, but instead I will find him asleep in the middle of a pile of clothes. He loves gadgets. He has a brain for puzzles and science and putting things together. I feel like he'd be a great engineer. Weston is just a truly wonderful kid who does not demand much. I love him to death and am so grateful I get to be his mom. He is a gift!
He made himself some croc spurs on his 3D printer haha. I got him donuts to share with his class and he got to get out of school early. Tanner came too since he's only in 1/2 day school. It's an off year for a party so we saw a movie... The Amazing Maurice... and go to Fat Cats to play arcades. We grabbed Jack in the Box for lunch on the way home. He wasn't super thrilled about the movie choice but it's all that was really available. He has a busy life, going from flag football practice straight to baseball practice so he ate his dinner in the car. We celebrated him with his special dinner a different night... smoked ribs and mac n cheese. Brownies for dessert. He got a new mountain bike as his big gift.
The weekend after his birthday, the boys went snowboarding in Flagstaff! Rusty got to go too. It's been a good winter for snow. If we weren't so busy they could have gone all the way into April!
I volunteered at Leman's Color Run for the day and was put in charge of being DJ. After they kids run, they get to go into the gym and dance and hang out with their friends. It was interesting to see which songs the kids really got excited about. Grateful I know enough from Collin and Weston on what's "cool" music for the kids these days!
The same weekend the boys were snowboarding, Olive had a dance competition! It was at Higley Performing Arts Center, which was convenient. It was the first time I've seen many of the dances she's been working on since August and it made me emotional!! She is a BEAUTIFUL dancer!! I cried during "My Wish". It's a slow, lyrical dance and they do a jump in one part that looked so good. She really put her heart into it and I just couldn't believe how much she's progressed already this year.
Just mending a costume before they go on stage! Glad I had a sewing kit on me!
Tanner is trying his hand at basketball. We showed up to a game one Saturday and realized we were playing Fox's team!!
Tanner always asks his siblings if they'll go to his games. They don't ever want to and he's so crushed. Olive was the sweetest and came to this game. I know he felt so loved. Weston came to one too.
Cleaning out some books. I think it's time to say goodbye to the baby ones.
I signed Olive up for a month of Meant to be Me classes in February. I love what Kristen has created with these classes and so grateful Olive has the opportunity to go!
The classes are in downtown Gilbert... right by Topos! You know what that means!
I was getting ready for church and Olive walks in like this.
Olive got to accept the awards for her dances on Sunday. Luckily, we were able to run down there before church.
Liam's mom, Kelly, is so crafty and helpful with the Valentine's Day boxes!! Weston did the teams at the Superbowl this year. It looked amazing! Way to go out of elementary school with a bang!
Love me some soft, sugar cookies for Valentines Day! I volunteered to be in charge of Olive's class party. It was fun to be in her element with her friends.
Weston so fancy.
Heart shaped pizzas for our special dinner. I always leave a little gift or treat and card at their places on the table. Now they have started to leave me notes too, which are so sweet.
Another day, volunteering in Tanner's classroom!
Collin's art project... A Nike! I was impressed! It was all cardboard.
Speaking of art... Olive showed me one of her projects when I came for parent teacher conferences.
Kids for Kindness was so cute! We made several crafts to show our love to nursing homes and shelters!
I'll blame the sickness on all the sugar.
We celebrated Camilla's birthday at a cooking class! A chocolates class actually. We made chocolate truffles and hot chocolate bombs and honestly it was all very junior high level. Plus the place must have been having trouble with their plumbing because it smelled so bad I couldn't focus. At least dinner at North Italia made up for it!
Sad we didn't get any group pictures of Camilla's big birthday bash! She loves magic and it just so happens that Penn and Teller were in town on her actual birthday! We met at Clever Coi for dinner then carpooled over to the Mesa Arts Center. Our seats were very far away. Like, last row, which wasn't great for my eyes but it was an entertaining show! My first magic show! I wasn't expecting them to be so funny! Afterward we tried that ice cream shop in downtown Mesa that people rave about... Novel. We got it in a donut which was pretty tasty.
Not very convincing yellow card notice, but funny.
The Lindbloms SHOWED UP for the Lip Sync Battle this year!! I told everyone it could be a skit or dance or whatever they wanted! Shelley and Casey started off the night with a Lion King song and we were dead!! It was hysterical and we were all laughing til we cried. Travis and I tried a ball dance that was much too long but fun to practice! Collin, Weston and Rusty did a spoof on Riahanna's Superbowl 1/2 time show. I helped them with it and it was pretty dang funny. The little girls did a cute dance and my parent's learned a tik tok dance! The rest of them came together to recreate a scene from Brooklyn 99 that is so funny! They have a line up to identify a murderer and they have to sing a Backstreet Boy's song. I was so proud of everyone for bringing their A game! It's always such a funny night!
I've been nagging Collin to pick another sport to do in school, which he fought and protested vehemently.I told him he had to choose either golf or track. After a LOT of arguing he chose golf. I drove him to tryouts for 3 days but he didn't make the team. Sigh. But he admitted during tryouts that he was glad I pushed him to do it. There were only a few spots open and a lot of boys tried out. I felt bad his friend, Carson, who is pretty good, but didn't even make it.
Tanner was tickled to see these names on his homework!
Weston is going to have a hard time eating with all his teeth falling out!
My dad invited all the sons and sons in law on a snowmobiling trip to Wyoming. The Lindblom cousins were apart of it too. My dad generously paid for everything and they had a great time! Unfortunately, Austin couldn't go because of his niece's baptism but the rest made it.
Snow on the Superstition mountains!
This book fits Tanner! He hates waking up for school and cries and stays in bed as long as he can! I'm over it! Especially because he's up bright and early on Saturdays and Sundays. I've actually lied to him before that he has school the next day when it's the weekend, just to get him to sleep in.
Doug was in town for something orthodontia related and invited Trav out to dinner one night in Scottsdale. Fancy schmancy at Dominicks. He got to meet Glenn and all the guys I hear about all the time from Rachel, but Travis has no clue about haha.
