A very special baby was born on January 20!! I wasn't able to be at Scarlett's birth, so Marcie invited me to be at Landons. There were a few false alarms earlier in the week, but then it went down for real on Jan. 19! My mom and I got the word that they were admitted and met down at the hospital later that night. We waited in the lobby while she was getting her epidural (quite the episode for her, poor thing!) then we went up to the room once she was comfortable. We just visited and waited for a few more hours until it was finally time! If I remember correctly, it was around 4 or 5am when she started pushing. She had asked if I could take pictures, so I brought my camera, but it was so dark in there that I had to use my flash, which seemed super distracting! Ugh! So I reverted to my phone mostly. My mom was videotaping. I have never seen a baby born before (besides my own of course... and really, I guess I didn't even see theirs, haha!) so this was super exciting. She didn't have to push very many times before that sweet baby was here! I didn't want to be in the way, so I held back by her head, until my mom nudged me forward to see him once he was half way out. So incredible! The miracle of birth! Wow. Even better when it's not your eeny a baby is plowing through. Lololol. But seriously. ;)
Proud aunt right here! I got home at 8am, just in time for the boys to get on the bus and Trav to leave for work. I put a show on for Olive and hit the bed! Praise heaven's angels that she is a good girl and can zone out on a show because I didn't wake up for several hours. Eek! Unless CPS is reading this, then I just rested my eyes for a few minutes. ;)
Luckily, Travis had patients cancel and he came home at 11am to rescue me.. and more importantly, Olive, haha. I was able to go back to the hospital to take some more pictures of this sweet family!! How does anyone look so good after being up all night and day and having a baby? That's Marcie for you!
Awww, I just love this one!
About a week later, I went to their house to take some more newborn pictures. By Marcie's request, mind you. She said... and I quote... "You're the only photographer that's ever taken pictures for me that I loved."
Ummmm, come again?! I'm pretty firm on not calling myself a photographer because I have no professional training and sort of hate how anyone with a camera considers themselves a photographer. But how could I say no to that?! She assured me that she had no expectations and would be happy with anything. Wellllll, OK then.
I was SUPER nervous, but maybe low expectations are good, because I am absolutely in love with so many of them!!
Scarlett is at such a hard age, so the ones with her and Landon and the family ones were the hardest for sure. I was a jumping clown, making a complete fool out of myself. She just did not want to cooperate! We even called Craig over to try and help. So this was the best we got and I actually think they're really sweet.
Lighting also stresses me out, but these ones of Marcie and babe were too good to be true!
Obsessed.
I would print and frame this one so big if it were me! Photography is easy when you're taking pictures of angels.
These poses were Marcie's idea and I love them.
We spent several hours shooting and ran out of time, so she came over to my house the next week to finish up. Getting him to stay curled up was a feat! The family jewels just really wanted to be on display. ;)
Phew! I have SO much more respect for Megan and all newborn photographers now! I was a sweaty mess. Plus, you pretty much know you're going to get peed and pooped on once that diaper comes off! It was so very worth it though. I sure love these faces!

Thank you for coming to his birth!! It was sad not having you there for Scarlett's so I was happy you could be there for Landon's. I feel bad tho that it took forever to get you guys in there and that you felt like you had to stay up by my head! I mean not that you wanted to see my hoo ha but you totally could've watched the whole thing if you wanted. At that point I don't care who's down there lol!! I love ALL of his hospital and newborn pictures. Seriously love them. The main reason I want to get Landon's room decorated is so that I can print and frame all of these pictures!! You're the best thank you :)
