Collin's hobby

I never thought I'd see the day that Collin got lost in artwork. But he has full fledged entered that world. It's marvelous. I'll constantly walk upstairs to find him feverishly working on his latest drawing. And sometimes he'll seize up and cover what he's doing with his hand. Then I know it's a picture for me, that he's trying to keep secret until the big reveal. :)
It started at preschool. He'd come home with a stenciled drawing in an envelope and get great satisfaction out of handing me his "gift" and watching me open it. It slowly became a standard, that Trav and I would each get 1 or 2 envelopes after preschool. It was sweet, but our house was also quickly filling up with folding pieces of crayon marked paper. And he would get so offended if he found one in the trash, so I started sneaking those things out in the garbage like a criminal hiding contraband. Of course, my sentimental heart also had to save some.
The sweetest was when I'd find one hidden under my pillow or waiting for me at the side of the bed.

The envelope is half the fun and a picture is never made without it's accompanying cover.

We aren't the only ones to receive such gifts. My visiting teachers got pictures and the missionaries as well. Basically, any time someone came over, Collin would disappear, then show up 15 min. later with a picture for them. We got a kick out of the sisters' drawings. Collin explained, "And that's the cross that Jesus died on for our sins."
Our eyes bugged out a little bit, followed by slightly uncomfortable laughter. Yes, our son goes to Catholic school. He was totally confused by our reactions.

This must be Dad, Collin, Weston and Olive. You can tell the boys from the girls by their hair.

We were a bit puzzled by this one! He got embarrassed when we asked about the colored in parts. Figured it out later... the two on either side are my hips. The middle is my belly button. Still not solid on that last one though!
This one might be my favorite. It just makes me smile. He loooves doing hearts. So proud of himself.

This here is a Daddy special. Holding... a cell phone? Not too sure, but I love it.
