9 Lives

This car must be kin to a cat or something, because it won't die!! Not that I guess we terribly want it to, but it sure is causing a lot of problems.

With a couple thousand dollars of repairs needed on it, it was still good to drive Trav back and forth the 2 miles to work every day. EXCEPT when it's snowing. The tires are bald, and the engine is shot and it sees a snow covered hill as more of a slip 'n slide. Honestly, I don't know how we didn't get in any accidents our last winter in Buffalo. Definitely some close calls.

But one Friday morning, at the beginning of the month, with snow covered roads, Trav must have gotten a surge of confidence in Ol' Dirtay. I subsequently got a call from him, 4 minutes after he left for work.
"Hi babe. *pause* Um, would you mind coming to pick me up?"

There is a right hand turn, going down a hill, on his way to work. Thankfully, there is also a cement, median that lines the outer edge of that curve. Sliding into that, is what messed up the car. But if it wasn't there, he would have slid into other traffic. Bless that slab of cement.

He called our roadside assistance the next day to get a tow. 6 hours later, no one has called back. After a lot of calling, hassling and confusion, we are told that they don't service the area we live in. We have been paying for this service through Allstate for the last 9 months! Good to know, Allstate, that you offer services that can't be used. But thanks for taking our money. It will be AAA from here on out. Just thankful we learned of it now, instead of when I'm on the side of the road outside Holbrook, by myself with 2 kids!

Trav finally managed to get it down to the dealership, where we speculated they'd tell us it was either totaled or cost more to repair than it was worth. Nope, just $380.
Looks like Ol' Dirtay rides again!
(And after three weeks of having only one car, I'm pretty happy to have him. :)
