So far this week......

Travis managed to hurt his ankle....

And I managed to turn 26.

Both are quite the accomplishments, we know.
Maybe I should start with feat #1 (no pun intended, haha)

On Monday, Trav headed off to play basketball with some guys at the church building. As he gave me a peck goodbye, I bit my tongue from hollering out "Be careful!" This is my trademark sendoff whenever he's headed to play sports, drive far away, work out, breath, blink, you get the picture. I guess this time I just figured, HE KNOWS ALREADY! But for some reason as he walked out the door I imagined him turning his ankle (as SOMEONE is always bound to do) and being on crutches as we take on the airport this weekend with luggage and baby in tow. So when my hubby hobbled in two hours later, I almost wasn't surprised. ALMOST. So what happened here? Does my farewell of caution actually make a difference? Did I "jinx" him by imagining injury? Sigh. I guess I'll never know. However, fate was pitted against two ball players this time, as Ryan hit the ground with a sprained ankle just minutes after Trav was dragged off the court. Unfortunately, his injury seems to be more serious. Luckily, Trav just sported a cankle for a couple days and seems to be no worse for it.

On to #2, my aging process.

I have to admit, I've felt like I was 26 ever since Trav's birthday in May. I figure... what's three months difference? So my b-day came and went without too much ado, and that's kind of how I like it. I loved all the calls, texts, and shoutouts on Facebook- it made me feel loved, but I'm not much for elaborate celebrations with big crowds. And, I'll be honest, one of my favorite parts was my breakfast... delicious, healthy DONUTS!! Trav discovered the most amazing donut shop, and as you can see, it's open 24/7. I think my hips grew an inch just acknowledging that. They are way better than Tim Hortons, Dunkin', what have you. I almost polished off three. My day was off to a good start :)

I thought the beach would be a good idea, but the rain had other plans. So, I exercised, did some sewing (by sewing, I mean hemming a rectangle to make a new hooter hider- and it actually turned out!) and then Rachel and Doug watched the Collinator while Trav and I went to Cheesecake Factory for an early dinner. So yummy!

This picture doesn't do Rach any justice... she said he was good the whole time we were gone. It was only when WE got there, that he decided to scream. Maybe he didn't want to go home.

Then, after we put him to bed, the Shaws came over and stayed with him while we went to see the sixth installment of HARRY POTTER!! Yes, I'm a Harry geek. For the last movie, I reread the book and watched all the movies again. However, it ended up ruining the movie because I spent the whole time being mad that they left this out and that out and changed this and screwed with that. So I did no preparing this time and absolutely LOVED the movie! (Minus the rating- I think it should have been PG -13 for scary-ness. Trav thinks I'm nuts)

For my 24th birthday, the very last Harry Potter book came out at midnight and so I was one of the first at Barnes and Noble to get my copy. No, I didn't dress up- and no, I didn't clap fanatically with the rest of the crowd for the very first girl who walked out with the first copy (some even took pics), but I'd still consider myself pretty hard core :) I think if I had done either of those two things, Trav would have considered it grounds for divorce. BUT, it did come with some awesome glasses and a keyring with the date 7-21-07 on it. Needless to say, I was in 7th heaven.

When we got back from the movie, Rachel and Doug surprised me with a cake. They are so sweet. And just in case you haven't had a good laugh yet today, I decided to include this pic.

Heres the deal...I really appreciate that you included the word "cankle". I never find enough reason to use it! Also, I love your birthday outfit...the red shirt under is super cute. Welcome to the world of 26...its a good one!

I meant to comment the first time I read this and was distracted. Too bad for Trav. 26 was a good birthday. I was thinking about next year though, I'll have a 5 year old and will be 28, so close to 30! Ahhhhhhh. Good to see you had fun. I'm so glad we don't have a donut shop near us, I'd gain so much weight. They're just so easy to down.

P.s. later- I was just looking at Adam's friend Jenn's blog and found out that Shane Mckinnon's wife was in a serious car accident, and they tried to save her almost-full term baby, but she passed away the next day:(
