So I got myself a sewing machine. Don't let my smile deceive you. It is a Kenmore 1930's Disaster model. I bought it from a girl who was moving. She told me she's never had any problems with it. . . . Yeah, right! It's built into the table and has plagued my living room for at least two weeks. Everyday I write "hem Travis's scrubs" on my "to do" list and everyday it doesn't get crossed off. At first the needle wouldn't go up and down, then the thread jammed, and now it won't pick up the thread from the bobbin. I've bought oil for it, caressed it, and sang it a song, and it still won't put out! I actually got through three pairs of scrubs today when it decided to quit on me again. My finger tips smell of machine parts from all the "fixing" I've tried to do. When it's working, sewing is fun... it's just too bad that that statement is contigent on "when it's working!" And so I beg the question, "is swearing a normal habit to pick up while sewing?" :D
SIDE NOTE: After Travis read this post, he went looking on the sewing machine to see where it said "Kenmore Disaster"!!!! Hahaha! I love my husband! It's usually ME pulling the blonde moments! :)

I Hope it starts to work again. I have know idea how to really sew, but my mom is teaching me, so I will have to let you know if swearing is a normal habit or not in a few weeks.
I only have the inclination to swear when I use my mom’s machine. I think the thing has it in for me; every time I use it the tension gets all screwy. You are wonderful to fix Travs scrubs though. Marcus wants me to hem his new temple pants; I’ve told him no at least 6 times but I don’t think he understands that it’s just not today that I won’t hem them. It would be a disaster if I tried, maybe I will take them to a Tailor…
I swear sewing machines pick their owners... I could never use my mothers with out having issues!
Well, I am waiting for Dave to buy me one STILL... However I do sew sometimes at my M-I-L's house... but she is always hovering over me... so I do not know if to swear is actually normal... but I know for sure that thinking of swear words is completely habit for me... I would probably say them if she was not right there all the time... so I would say you are all right... Have you tried taking it to a sewing machine repair place... You could call Kenmore and they should be able to tell you one in your area..
