Well, unfortunately, Christmas Eve was not the best this year. I had lost it the night before. I tried so hard all month to keep my cool. Stay calm. It will all work out. Everything will get done that needs to get done, I kept telling myself. And then it was one day until Christmas and my house was a disaster, I had a sick husband and kid and a million things left to do. Not proud of it, but I was a tornado of anger and frustration. So, come time to head to Grandma's house, there was no way. I sent the family without me. Best decision. I had a few hours of quiet to wrap presents, clean and finish up loose ends. I got myself a burrito from Boca and ate in peace. I love Christmas and I hate Christmas. Something will need to change next year. I'm not sure what, but I can't keep going like this. I need to simplify.
I'm glad Travis took pictures of the kids looking all cute for the nativity. Although, I think Olive's hair is a good indication of how I was feeling.
I was at least in a good enough place to read I Believe In Santa Claus with the kids before bed. But we forgot to leave out cookies and milk! *face palm*
The calm before the storm. It's such a peaceful scene.
Christmas morning really is magical. The kids are always so grateful and excited and give lots of hugs. I think Collin's extra enthusiasm is contagious. They literally jumped for joy in shouts and hugs when they unwrapped the gift of getting to go to Disneyland. But then, oh, the noise level went up double when the boys unwrapped the basketball hoop gift! It was legit like they had won the lottery. Olive, of course, shrugged her shoulders and rolled her eyes. Her big gift from Santa was her hooverboard and it became a permanent attachment to her legs. She was over the moon about it. Collin got a nice mountain bike and Tanner also got a cool, new bike. I actually really love it. It's so cute with it's brown seat and schwin-like handlebars. Weston got his own golf club set.
Lucky dad, Santa brought him regular deodorant, haha! I break from the natural stuff I buy him.
I don't know how I didn't get a picture of Collin with all his stuff! But here are his super cool shoes he's been DYING to wear. He also got a Buffalo Bills jersey... Josh Allen to be exact.
I got some new sunnies, perfume and joggers.
Weston was excited about his watch and camera!
Olive got a doll whose hair you can do and art supplies and flower growing kit.
Tan Man got his own golf set, wooden train set, magnet tiles and remote control car... what he wanted most!
Grandma and Grandpa Lindbloms for biscuits and gravy and a cousin gift exchange!
Break out the hugging!
If I'm being honest, this gathering was almost too much for my already delicate nerves. Lots of loud. We have sprouted into pure chaos. I think Enzo and Cohen each count for 4 children, haha.
Then to Grandma and Grandpa Evans' for more gift exchanges. Tanner is opening up more remote control cars! All his dreams were coming true!
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
