Marcie's Baby Shower

After getting home from Hawaii on Sunday night, I had t-minus 4 1/2 days to get ready for Marcie's baby shower! I had already made the hooded towel, beanie and bibs ahead of time, but I still needed to make the headbands and decorations! Besides laundry and unpacking/packing, baby shower stuff ruled my entire week.

I went over to Megan's house on Monday night so she could teach me how to make the cream one. She's so crafty. I've been so lucky to learn from her! And she had extra leather that she gave me to make the white and pink bows.
She also gave me some extra feathers she had and let me borrow her gold gilding to make this Gallup one. ;)
I'll be honest, I was exhausted and not super looking forward to driving back to Mesa, but it was ALL worth it! And the kids actually did pretty good with a new movie to watch. Thank you, Paddington.
It was raining cats and dogs when we got there, Friday night. Jefferson, Marcie, Trav and I got some frozen yogurt and literally came home sopping wet. Luckily, Saturday dawned bright and sunny!
This might be my favorite picture of the whole morning.
Lindi was all dolled up, with the cutest hair and outfit and found her way outside to help Grandpa with the lawn. Be still my heart!

The shower started at 11am and I got there at 8am to start decorating. It's a good thing I did! We were scrambling right before it was time to party.
I got this idea for the diaper cake online and I LOVE how it turned out! We put a sonogram picture in the frame. The "S" is for Scarlett!

I used a large hole punch to punch out all these circles, then sewed them together. Kind of a fun backdrop for the food.

This was another idea I found online and LOVE how it came together! Luckily, Marcie had oodles of tulle left over from her wedding that I could use. It was kind of a bugger to make but so fun to use!
My boys started learning that week that my first priority was Marcie's baby shower. I think it was Thursday night when I was putting them to bed, that I was telling them I couldn't lay with them that night because I had too much to do. Here's what Collin replied, as verbatim as I can remember, no pauses or breaths... "But WHY, Mom?! You already made everything! You made the cake and the circles and oh yeah, the tutu for the table. You need to finish that. Why does a table need a tutu? Is it going to daaance? Is it going to be a dancing table??!" While he jiggled his body in his bed like he was a stiff table trying to dance. It was hysterical and totally gave me the giggles. His mind cracks me up.

Megan let me borrow this garland that was cute across the mantle.

We were trying to get a picture of Marcie when Lindi walked up and tried to imitate her by sticking out her belly, haha!

Mmmm, Shelley made a cherry limeade punch that was bomb. Step aside, Sonic!

Marcie's friend, Alison (the 4th sister) brought some awesome mango and pineapple salsas from Trader Joes with those cinnamon pita chips from Food City. Plus a yummy broccoli salad and pasta salad and those lemon cakes from Costco. Sis. LeSueur brought the fruit platters and dip. I made a Buffalo wing, chicken dip with corn chips. Marcie made mint brownies. My mom ordered dozens of gourmet cupcakes. Marcie's mother-in-law made a spinach salad. And Shelley made mini Monte Cristo sandwiches. They are ham and cheese sandwiches with a butter concoction poured over them and then baked. Then you sprinkle powdered sugar over the top and dip in grape jelly. I think they were the clear hit! She made like 5 pans of them and there was not a single leftover.

Just as it was starting, Trent drove up with Grandmother. They had been at a funeral and stopped by to say hi. She has to take her oxygen tank with her everywhere now, so she stayed in the car and we came to her. I was so mad I didn't adjust my camera and this shot was super overexposed.

I forget who was taking the picture but they teased Grandmother that she needed to smile! And this is what we got. Love it! Probably the happiest looking that I've seen her in a long time.

The boys did an amazing job on the lawn even though it was still so wet. Looks like a golf course.
I didn't even think about favors, but Marcie did! They turned out really cute. I feel bad she did them for her own shower though!

Some of the guests...

Lindi was all over the present recording, haha!

Cutest gift!!
And the traditional blessing dress from Grandma Ann! So cute with polka dots!
Opening my present...
I love those pink moccs!
I also got her a Sophie giraffe, but she hadn't heard of it yet. Hopefully it's as great as everyone says.
The Figueroa clan.
Shelley and her new twin, Sunny! Now those brothers and REALLY going to get mistaken for around town!

She made out great! We guessed that about 75 people showed up. It was a madhouse near the end. I'm pretty sure we surpassed fire code, haha! But it was wonderful that so many people came to support her! Marcie and baby Scarlett are loved, that's for sure! We CAN'T WAIT to meet this baby girl!!!
