Yesterday can go down in the history books..... Trav let me cut his hair!!!! Did I drug him? No, as you can see, he is quite lucid. I guess two years of nagging, begging, and harping on him to let me try, finally paid off! Now I know I have no technical "training" as one might call it, but both my sisters are hairdressers, so I think that makes me an honorary hairstylist or something. No? Well, then I guess after I invested in my own set of clippers and shears, he just had no choice. :)
I'd say he took it like a man. :) Is that even a grin I see?! Well, remember, this is the before picture.
This is the reaction I got 1/2 hour after the cut when I realized I hadn't gotten my after picture, and I walked in with my camera. I'll pretend he just didn't appreciate me interrupting his study session.
Now is that the look of a guy who's SOOO happy he let his wife cut his hair? I'll leave that up to you. He actually did claim he liked the cut, it just sorta looked like I had taken clippers to it all over. Even though I did do scissors on top. Hmmm, any suggestions Shelley, Marcie, or Rachel?
On to the next topic! I checked this book out from the library, because I joined a book club and it was September's pick. It's an absolutely incredible story about a man who was falsely imprisoned in a Soviet labor camp in the 1940's and escaped with six other guys only to walk over 4,000 miles across Siberia, the Gobi desert, Mongolia, Tibet, and over the Himalayas to British India. My mouth could have been gaping open the whole time I read it, it was that amazing. It's the only book I've ever read that made me want to write a letter to the author. Sadly, I read that he died in 2004. I started it three days ago and haven't since eaten a meal without feeling supremely grateful (and spoiled) or slept in my bed without marveling at how warm and soft it is. I think everyone has something to gain from reading such an epic story.
Ok, so after writing that I feel more than embarrassed about my next blip. It seems that with all the things going on, Trav and I haven't had a weekend date night since we left Arizona. This weekend will be no different, so I stole Trav away from his laptop this afternoon to go see a movie in the cheap theaters that I know he's wanted to see for a long time.... Get Smart. I had never heard of the t.v. show, but apparently he used to watch it and thought it was really funny. The movie was corny, but we laughed the whole time. Mom, I think you and dad would enjoy the slap-stick humor. I had a little sugar craving beforehand so I ran into the Wal-mart next door and got me a box of Sweet Tarts, Trav a box of Hot Tamales, and a Snickers for a YW birthday this Sunday. Then I realized I bought the Almond Snickers and didn't know if she would like that. Well, Trav and I sure hated having to split it. We just Hate chocolate, ya know. Well Trav finished his box and I munched on those Sweet Tarts until I realized my tongue felt a little funny.... Hmm, what's going on. I couldn't believe I would have an allergic reaction, so I reassessed the situation. Yep, I basically had worn my tongue raw and it was swollen enough that it was hard to swallow. What was that lesson I had learned from the book....? Well, my dinner tasted a little funny and burned as I chewed. They need to put a warning on that box! If you consume half or more of this box in one sitting, expect to be sorely punished! Haha. Sadly, I'm sure this isn't the last time it will happen!

Good job on the hair cut =) Shaun still won't let me touch his hair.
You didn't know sweet-tarts rub your tounge raw. I learned that when I was little after trick-or-treating. I always had hundreds of those little packets and what eat a ton of them, I suffured the same way =)
So get this, we are going to Virgina Oct 10-17th and my Noni called and said Jason (my Scissor Sisters uncle) was doing a show in New York and wanted us to drive up to see him. I will be 6 hours away from you!!!!! Is their any possible way we could maybe try to meet half way or something?? I know it is a long shot but I will be so close to you!! We can talk more later =) Or if you want to come stay in Virgina for a few days you can, my grandparents have plenty of room =)
Nice job on the haircut. All that complaining from Travis was for nothing. Sorry about your tongue-who would have known. I loved the show Get Smart. I laughed a lot, it was quite embarrassing! :) Sounds like a good book to read. I hope our book club changes directions and move to different books. We will see.

Dude... great job on the haircut... If I tried to do something like that it would look horrible.... Dave gave up on trying to get me to cut his hair... I have been wanting to do a book club... but out here in Utah nmost people only want to do church books... we will see... if I find a good one I will join.
4,000 miles!!! "A Long Walk," is kind of an understatement don't you think? Yeah, I never would have made it. I would have rather laid down and died than hiked that far.
Where the business are you????
