Tanner got his baptism interview from Bishop Dad!
We've only used the ice cream machine for youth nights at our house but we decided to invite the whole ward over this time! It seemed like the last good Sunday before it got too hot, but it ended up raining cats and dogs! We cleared out the garage and set up canopies and people still came!
Summer swim team has begun! Tanner and Weston did swim team and Olive finally got to try dive team! I made Weston do swim team so he could get prepped for joining the ALA swim team this school year. He hated it, but he was good natured about it, as he is. He would come home and laugh and tell me how he was the slowest one and the other kids lapped him and his cousin, Orson would make fun of him and the coaches just let him skip laps so he wasn't the only one still going. Oh, sweet, Weston! swim just ain't his thing, I guess. Olive loved dive team! she was good at it too! Still scary for her to try inwards or gainers though.
Collin tried to get a job lifeguarding with Gilbert and Mesa but no luck. So last second, we got him registered with Lincoln to go to FSY in Thatcher. I drove them Monday morning. I don't think I've been to Thatcher since we buried Grandma Evans. It was quite the process because they mixed up the rooms and Lincoln and Collin weren't roommates but thankfully it all got straightened out. It was so interesting to see EA! I've always heard about it but never seen it!
After they were settled, I went to the store and bought flowers and found the cemetery Grandma is buried at with help from Aunt Kathleen. I felt so sad 20 years ago leaving her here because I thought it was so desolate and ugly. What a pleasant surprise to see it now. I didn't have those feelings at all. I mean, it's not pretty exactly, but it matches the area and it was well kept and there were some plants. It was a BEAUTIFUL day and lightly sprinkled while I was there. I was soaking it all in! Grandma happened to check Life360 and saw that I was there so she text me and I'm so glad she did because then I was able to Facetime her and I wouldn't have thought to do that otherwise. It was fun to show her the area and visit for a minute. I didn't want to leave! I miss her. I wish I could talk to her. Afterward, I drove past Austin and Amelia's house.
First time seeing the Gila Valley temple!
After a sleepover, I treated the kids to breakfast at Ihop! I was surprised, the food looked amazing. The kids loved it. Leave it to Tanner to order a burger for breakfast.
Sis. Monahan is the Primary president and she and the missionaries came over to give Tanner a special lesson on being baptized complete with an object lesson and treat! It was really nice of them!
A rehearsal with Uncle Craig before the baptism!
I absolutely fell in love with this Mesa temple picture I came across at Deseret Book but none of my sisters or mom was interested in buying it. I thought about it for weeks. Couldn't get it out of my mind. It was on a good sale so I finally bought it!
The Greenwoods wanted to have the bishopric over for dinner and the date was set but then we needed to have Tanner's baptism that night so we had to miss it. They were SO nice and brought over this amazing spread of gourmet food for us. Nicest bishop perk yet haha.
When dental work needs to be done at home, these gravity chairs are great.
Olive played at Posey's house one day and they choreographed a dance the whole time. It was DARLING. I was so impressed. These girls are talented. If only they were at the same studio and could do a duet together!
Weston's friend, Regan, plays hockey and invited him to skate one day.
Love when Megan comes to town and gets the girls together! I feel like I do a pretty good job not gossiping but man did the tea get spilled that night! What is it with all the marriages falling apart and cheating husbands?! Gilbert is cray cray.
Tanner got swimmer of the week the very first week! Way to go, Tan man! There's at least 50 kids in his group!
Tanner begged to tag along on our date night to Wildflower. Isn't he the cutest?! He ran upstairs and put on his only collared, button up shirt so he could be dressed up for us.
All was going well until Tanner found something in his salad. He declared it a chrysalis! I scoffed and said, no I'm sure it's nothing. How did he even know what a chrysalis was anyway? Upon further examination it was indeed a chrysalis!!Go figure! His class had just studied life cycles of bugs and butterflies haha. We squished it and guts came out. *barf*. I showed a worker and I swear his face turned green. He apologized and explained it is all organic and sometimes there are bugs that come through in the produce. They reimbursed us and prepared a replacement entree. But we had already finished eating so I took it home and stuck it in the fridge. I was hesitant to eat it a couple days later but I hate wasting food and Wildflower is expensive and healthy so I busted it open. And I kid you not, a ladybug crawled out!!!
After two weeks of 4 hour, daily rehearsals, these cute cousins were ready to sing!! They complained heartily about this music camp with Miss Jennie but oh my heck the performance was incredible!! Such cute songs! And they all got to have a solo. I loved it! Olive's inner performer definitely shined. She was all in on sass, facial expressions and energetic actions. Tanner , on the other hand... haha. He did his best!
They earned that Andys! And sweet Weston came to support them. I didn't force him at all ;)
Weston was so close to not needing braces. Just one canine that didn't have enough room to come down. He's lucky it will be a brief process.
This is where clothes that have only been worn a little bit go. Not dirty enough to wash, not clean enough to go back in the closet. I need a better system. The mess bugs me!
We carpool with the Watkins for swim and dive team. When it's my turn to take the younger kids I stay and watch and read Addison Pratt's book!
Our neighbor, Allie, usually goes to church with her boyfriend, but she had come with us one Sunday and saw me with my physical scriptures. She asked where she could get some and have her name put on it. So I took her to Deseret Book that week and got her a set. She wasn't expecting me to pay for them, but I told her it was an early baptism gift. She sent me this text later and wow I always want to remember her sweet, pure words.
KTR is always a win. Can't wait for the one by our house to be finished.
The apostles are warning about AI. Apparently AI girlfriends are a thing. Blows my mind. This meme seems so outrageous but I wonder if we won't be at this point before long.
Olive's dance director gave her a scholarship to go to this dance/singing camp called Fly. It's a week long camp that is from 9am-9pm. She thought it was really fun.
Baptisms and dinner with friends!
These two got their own outing with me :)
We were having Come Follow Me and we don't all fit on our living room furniture so people on the couches have to share. Tanner snuggled up to Collin. Collin does not like physical touch. But we basically guilt tripped him into tolerating it. Someday they'll be friends.
Bike ride to Trubowl with my girl.
One thing my mom taught me was you better be waiting and ready for a carpool! These two had a 5:40am wake up time to make it to swim and dive on time. At least it was only for half the summer.
Back at KTR and we were the first ones there! They had the whole place to themselves!
YW mutual night at the temple visitor's center.
We didn't make it to any swim meets but we went to most of Olive's dive meets. Collin really wanted to make it to one but his schedule prevented it.
I love when I get a good shot of Collin's dives! His club team did a fundraiser where the kids showed off a little then parents were supposed to be coached by their kids and then compete against each other. I was never planning on doing it, because obviously this has Travis written all over it. But Collin acted disappointed I wasn't doing it and I also wanted to support the fundraiser. Soooo, I did it. And it was freaking scary! Never in my life have I bounced and jumped off a diving board. Collin was trying to teach my a hurdle ( the approach) and that alone was confusing and hard. We were supposed to do three dives. I did a toe touch off the high dive, a flip off the 1 meter and then I was just going to do a normal dive but I did the approach and jumped and completely spazzed, screamed and did a complete belly flop! Ahhhh, so embarrassing. But whatever. The judges took pity on me and gave me 10's every time. When the announced the scores at the end I got FIRST PLACE!!! Haha, which means I was the worst one and they felt bad for me. It's OK. It was a terrifying experience so I'll take it! I always was amazed at what Collin could do on a diving board but now I'm just in complete shock. Diving is SO hard. Mad respect. It was a really fun morning!
The Standage twins put together a little summer camp to make money so Tanner went for a couple days and had fun!
