Jefferson and Katie (Katelynn Siegel) got married on Saturday, March 27! We are all SO happy for him and couldn't wait to have Katie in our family. She has a son, Bentley, from a previous marriage, but his dad isn't much of a presence in his life. Jefferson has stepped in and been such a devoted father figure to Bentley. It's been really sweet to watch. Jefferson has always had the kindest heart and we're so happy he is starting his family with a wonderful girl!
The rehearsal was two days before on a Thursday afternoon. And man oh man it was a WINDY one! Thank goodness the real wedding wasn't like the rehearsal. Olive and Lindi are flower girls so we were there to help them practice that. Marcie and Abbey were bridesmaids. Christopher and his family came into town for the wedding which was so fun to have them around for a couple weeks! The wedding was at Schnepf Farms in Queen Creek. It was a beautiful venue. Very rustic/farmhouse vibe. After the rehearsal, we all met at the Olive Mill down the street for dinner. It was outside under a tent so the wind hampered things a bit. They served prime rib for dinner and Tanner (our carnivore) really enjoyed it, haha! My parents each shared some thoughts/memories of Jefferson which was nice. My mom told a story about him when he was 3 or 4, wanting to wear a certain shirt or jacket and thumping his chest with his hand declaring, "MY CHOICE." That got a good laugh. Christopher and Marcie also got up to share memories. Marcie shared the sweetest thoughts about him and how much she loved him and had been praying for a good girl to come into his life. I think it got all of us choked up. My parents said multiple people from Katie's family came up afterward to genuinely compliment them on our family and how nice it was to see how much we loved each other. They also played the "shoe game" where someone reads a question like "Who is the better driver?" and they answer by holding up either their or the other person's shoe. It was funny to see their answers.
On the wedding day, Olive and I needed to be there early for pictures, so we planned on stopping at the Olive Mill first for some lunch. It was really crowded and Olive got lots of compliments on her hair and outfit!
It was fun to be at the house early to see everyone getting ready! Such excitement in the air!
These are the moments. Everything about the ceremony was perfect. Seeing Jefferson walk down the aisle with my parents and hug. Watching Jefferson's face tear up when he first saw Katie. (She looked stunning!) Hearing Jefferson pour out his heart in his vows and Katie likewise. Having so many family and friends there to support them and us. I couldn't have been happier for him! I know it's all he's ever wanted and seeing someone's dreams come true is heaven on earth.

After the ceremony it was cocktail hour. The photographer took some family pictures and everyone mingled and nibbled on appetizers then eventually raided the pretty dessert table in their hunger. The Clouses, Groscosts, Merkleys, Shumways and LeSeuers were there from the ward which was so fun to visit with them all! Plus so many aunts and uncles and cousins from both sides. There was no shortage of people to talk to!
When it was finally time for dinner, we had our assigned tables and slowly got called up to put in our pasta order. Then there was some dancing, then toasts, then throwing the bouquet and garter (which became a hysterical memory watching the kids' scandalized faces) more dancing, cutting the cake and then sending them off with fireworks! The best part was for sure the ghetto rap dancing on the back end of the night! Everyone had a good time! Wish we could rewind and repeat over and over! Weddings are my FAVORITE.
