The Thursday before Christmas, Collin's preschool put on a Christmas play at the local high school.
He had been practicing his part for weeks and had it memorized. (So did we.)
"I'd just like to see him once stand on his head and fly down the chimney, as Grandmother said."
I thought the wording was really strange, but whatevs.
When it was his turn to come out on stage, we waited. And waited. And waited. FINALLY, Collin sheepishly walked out on stage. I guess stage fright bit him.
His costume was to wear pajamas and they provided aprons.
His "play" was centered around Christmas questions that kids ask and then they were all helping make Christmas cookies.
It's so funny how having your kid on stage, ruffles all your tail feathers. An auditorium full of parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and friends (yes, people invited extended family!) just to watch a 3 or 4 year old say a couple of lines. Parents are proud folks. I guess I wasn't much different.
After each kid said their line, they took their prop and walked over to the kitchen table to make their contribution in "making" the cookies. Collin was right in the middle and when it was his turn, he didn't do anything, and instead the kid next to him went, and so on down the line. I thought he forgot his part and got skipped! But once each kid was done, Collin's part was to walk over to the oven, pull out the pan of cookies, then pass them out to each kid on stage. He had this impish grin on his face the entire time. Cute kid.
Sadly, my camera's battery died so we didn't get any pictures besides the ones on our phone and the lighting just washes out the kids. Collin is directly behind the table. At least my video camera battery held out so I could get it all on video!
In this video, he's the second kid to go to the microphone.
