Having a day to chill on the cruise was amazing! Spending every moment with my best friends and not having to take care of anyone or cook any meals was exactly the vacation I needed! That first night there was a SHUSH! party. You put on headsets that have two stations of music and dance! Dancing sets my soul freeee! We danced and danced and danced until we were drenched in sweat! I couldn't have been happier!
I laughed at one point when it was just Doug and I still going hard on the dance floor and Trav and Rach were taking a break. This is reflective of our personalities in general!
Late night pizza and cookies were a must!
Such a weird thing to check Life360 and see how far away we were from our babies.
The boys did the FloRider the next day, but I think this might be where it all went wrong for Trav. He had been dealing with some back pain before the trip, but after this, is amped up significantly.
It wasn't HOT, but it was sunny and warm enough to lay by the pool with a drink and a book!
Rachel and I have been friends for 18 years! I met her the day after we moved to Buffalo for dental school. I love her like a sister and truly can't imagine my life without her. We've been parenting together since day 1. She is the person I confide in, vent to, cry to and share the good with. She is the best listener and always has good advice. She is a "fixer". If I have a problem, she has a solution! I hate that we live states apart but ever since we had to leave NY we have made it a point to get together at least once a year. And we definitely talk on the regular! I don't know what I'd do without her.
Our first island to visit in Greece was Crete! Doug arranged for us to have a private driver and tour guide for the day. He drove us around the island a bit then took us to a beach.
It was warm, but the water certainly wasn't warm enough for me! Look at the snow capped mountains!
Their was a really popular restaurant right on the beach that we had lunch at. Everything was SO yummy. Crisp Greek salad, fresh calamari, and this really tender fish in a light sauce/soup that was perfect! The baklava for dessert was good too and I don't normally like baklava.
Off to see more of the island!
This was some sort of church/monastery. All I cared about was finding a bathroom, so I ran all over this property trying to understand what the employees were saying in broken English before finally finding it in the parking lot. No toilet seat covers or toilet paper! Luckily, I had packed some wipes!
OK, AI helped me figure out that it's called the Holy Trinity Monastery in Chania, Crete.
Finally, he drove us to the Venetian Harbor of Chania. We walked along the waterfront to the lighthouse then had dinner overlooking the harbor.
It was so weird to see ashtrays on the tables!
Mmmm this restaurant was super good. Especially the complimentary mousse for dessert! It was a gorgeous view with delicious food and the best friends. Our first day in Greece was a win!
